Cobb House Granted Regional LABC Award

Cobb House Granted Regional LABC Award

This summer has got off to a great start with an award win for one of SPA’s 2015 projects. Just recently, we discovered that Prime Country Developments, the contractors behind our Cobb Hill project, were granted a Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Building Excellence Award for their work on Cobb House.

Developed from a former farmhouse, overlooking Pendle Hill and Grindleton, the new and improved property featured designs and innovations led by our in-house architect, Duncan Isherwood. Throughout the process, the clients were as much a driving force as Duncan – persevering to get their dream home no matter what obstacles they faced.

As part of the project, the original house was fully refurbished and extensions added, replacing the original outbuildings. Stone was used throughout the building work too, for a stylish, country house-inspired finish.

The outdoor space was equally important to our clients, so their chosen landscapers created a new garden area outside the house alongside a lake, which formed to the front of the garden. The home’s rooms were also oriented to the south of the house, enabling the owners to take in the view of the beautiful Pendle Hill and Ribble Valley.

Of course, the project didn’t come without its innovative features. A ground source heat pump and solar panels were added to create all the heat and a substantial amount of electricity required by the homeowners.

The LABC Building excellence awards were set up to celebrate top-notch construction, with award categories ranging from Best Individual New Home to Best Commercial Building. Buildings are assessed on their craftsmanship and innovation as well as their high performance and ‘X’ factor.

While regional winners have been chosen, Cobb House will be joining all the other regional winners at the LABC Grand Finals, held in London this Autumn. Keep your eyes peeled for our future updates on the LABC awards – we’ll let you know how Cobb House gets on!
